The Apple Design Awards celebrate app creators who bring bold, creative, and distinctive ideas to life.  Developers from around the world are recognized for their outstanding work in six categories: innovation, visual and graphics, interaction, delight and fun, inclusivity, and social impact. 

The announcement pivoted to short form documentary in 2021, where Apple experts and evangelists defined what each category meant, highlighting the way each finalist truly represented their category, and helping to inspire the developer community in their creation of more visionary apps.

The narrative for 2022 shifted to focus on the shared experience of developers, where 31 finalists from Shanghai to Los Angeles shared the stories and struggles that brought them to this moment as Apple Design Award finalists.
